Girl Diagnosed with “Love Brain” After Calling Boyfriend Over 100 Times in a Day
An 18-year-old Chinese girl, nicknamed Xiaoyu, from Sichuan province in southwestern China, was diagnosed with a “love brain” condition after exhibiting extreme behavior towards her boyfriend.
Obsession Takes a Toll on Mental Health
- Xiaoyu’s obsession with her boyfriend led her to demand constant attention and contact from him.
- She insisted on knowing his whereabouts at all times and expected immediate responses to her messages.
- Her boyfriend felt suffocated by her dependency and started to distance himself.
Escalation of Behavior
As the situation intensified, Xiaoyu’s behavior became more erratic. She resorted to extreme measures when her boyfriend ignored her calls, leading to a confrontation that involved the police.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Upon examination, doctors at The Fourth People’s Hospital of Chengdu identified Xiaoyu as suffering from a borderline personality disorder, commonly referred to as “love brain.”
This condition, often linked to childhood relationship dynamics, can coexist with other mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.
