Nepali Family Seeks International Support as Hope in Nepal Government Fades

Family Pleads for International Support

The family of Bipin Joshi, a Nepali student taken hostage by Hamas in Gaza, is urging for international voices to demand his release. They expressed their dissatisfaction with the Nepal government’s efforts and traveled over 500 km to Kathmandu to raise awareness.

Meeting with Prime Minister

Joshi’s parents visited Kathmandu to meet Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, handing over a letter urging the government to take action for their son’s safe release. Bipin has been missing since October 7, 2023.

Background of the Incident

Bipin Joshi participated in the Learn and Earn program from Sudurpaschim University, traveling to Israel on September 12, 2023. He was captured by Hamas on October 7 during an incident involving Israel and Hamas.

His parents emphasized Bipin’s goal to contribute to Nepal’s agricultural sector with the skills acquired in Israel.

Familial Concerns

The family is deeply concerned about Bipin’s uncertain fate and the lack of updates on his well-being. Despite efforts to contact Nepali authorities, they remain without information on his whereabouts.

Plea for Assistance

Prakash Joshi, Bipin’s brother, urges the Nepali government and the international community to take action for his release. The family is worried about Bipin’s health and well-being during his captivity.

Continued Efforts for Release

Despite facing challenges, the family continues to engage with authorities, seeking updates on Bipin’s condition. They have reached out to various officials and international entities for support.

International Support

Nepal has sought assistance from Qatar, with officials meeting with the Qatari Ambassador to discuss Bipin Joshi’s release. Efforts are being made at an international level to secure his safe return.

Tragic Incident

The attack on October 7 resulted in the loss of 10 Nepali students and injuries to four others. The students were part of the ‘Learn and Earn Programme’ in Israel, with Joshi being one of the 17 students affected by the incident.
