Sky to sponsor Ireland’s men’s and women’s teams until 2028

The Republic of Ireland Men’s National Team Welcomes New Sponsor

The FAI has announced that the Republic of Ireland men’s national team has secured a new sponsor after an extensive search. Telecommunications company Sky has been named as the primary partner of the senior team until the end of 2028. This partnership also extends to the women’s national team, building on their existing association that began in 2021.

Sky’s Commitment to Irish Football

  • Sky’s partnership with the Women’s National Team has seen significant growth in women’s football in Ireland, with various milestones achieved.
  • Attendance records have been broken, television viewing figures have increased, and the team played at the Aviva Stadium for the first time in front of nearly 38,000 fans.
  • The Women’s National Team also secured World Cup qualification for the first time ever, marking a historic achievement.

New Beginnings for the Men’s Team

The men’s team had been without a sponsor since 2020 and will now embark on a new chapter with Sky’s support. Their first match of 2024 is scheduled against Belgium in a friendly at the Aviva Stadium, with interim head coach John O’Shea leading the team. O’Shea will also be in charge for the friendly against Switzerland in Dublin.

The FAI has revealed plans to appoint a permanent manager in April, following the departure of top target Lee Carsley from consideration.

Exciting Prospects Ahead

Sky Ireland chief executive JD Buckley expressed enthusiasm about the extended partnership, emphasizing the opportunity to inspire younger generations and support the growth of football in Ireland. FAI chief executive Jonathan Hill commended Sky for their continued support and highlighted the upcoming UEFA Nations League campaign, the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification process, and Ireland’s hosting of UEFA EURO 2028 as key milestones for the national teams.

With Sky’s commitment to promoting both senior teams, the FAI looks forward to a fruitful collaboration that will benefit Irish football in the years to come.
