80s Band Embarking on UK Tour, Vows to Perform Tracks from Entire 11-Album Discography

The Cult Announces 40th Anniversary Tour

The legendary rock band, The Cult, has exciting news for fans as they prepare to embark on a new tour in celebration of their 40th anniversary. The tour, named The 8424 Tour, is a nod to the year of the band’s formation in 1984 and the year of this special gig, 2024.

Tour Details

  • The band will perform some of their greatest hits from their 11 albums, including classics like She Sells Sanctuary, Rain, and Fire Woman.
  • The tour will kick off in the UK in October, spanning 10 dates across the UK and Europe until November.

Band History

While this anniversary marks a significant milestone for the band, it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. The Cult has faced challenges, including two breakups over the past four decades.

  • In 1995, the band first broke up after 12 years due to tensions between the main songwriters, Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury.
  • After regrouping in 1999, they released their seventh album, Beyond Good and Evil, in 2001, but faced commercial struggles leading to their second breakup in 2002.
  • They reunited in 2006 and have since released four albums, with their latest, Under the Midnight Sun, released in 2022.

Previous Names

Before adopting the name The Cult, the band performed as Death Cult from 1983–1984. In 2023, under the name Death Cult, they went on tour, setting the stage for their upcoming 8424 Tour.

Upcoming Tours in 2024

The Cult joins a wave of 80s hit artists making comebacks in 2024, including Fairground Attraction, New Kids on the Block, and Sananda Maitreya (formerly known as Terence Trent D’Arby).

Fans can grab tickets for The Cult’s 8424 Tour this Friday at 10am, promising an unforgettable celebration of their music and connection with their devoted fans.
