Disney’s Dirtiest Secrets: 7 X-Rated Moments in Animated Classics
Bambi (1942)
Everyone remembers Bambi’s mother being shot, yet history has airbrushed out the sex scene between Thumper and Miss Bunny. The two of them go at it like rabbits – sort of. Well, it’s definitely implied in their blissful faces and Miss Bunny stroking his hair.
Frozen (2013)
No, we won’t let this one go, actually. With children across the globe donning their Elsa dresses and Anna costumes, it’s easy to forget one of the dirtier jokes in the wholesome plot. During a conversation between Anna and her future lover Kristoff, she makes the joke that ‘shoe size doesn’t matter’ – referencing the size of something else entirely.
Robin Hood (1973)
Maid Marian is literally a fox in this film, so it’s no wonder Robin can’t keep his hands off her. It helps the relationship that he is pretty foxy too, of course. Their stroll amid the night-time wildlife of Sherwood Forest is so beautifully informative it should be used in sex education lessons. The song that accompanies them on their late-night saunter, simply called Love, features the choice lyric: ‘It seems like only yesterday/You were just a child at play/Now you’re all grown up inside of me…’
Aladdin (1992)
As sexual metaphors go, riding on a magic carpet pretty much sums it up. However, there is a similarly dirty joke within Aladdin when the Genie jokes ‘I thought the Earth wasn’t supposed to move until the honeymoon’ during the film’s final act. There’s also an entire scene where Aladdin is surrounded by beautiful women flirtatiously stroking him with ribbons, who become angry that he has no money to ‘pay for their services’…
Cars 2 (2011)
This reference is a lot more niche, but bear with us. A scene in the 2011 animated classic Cars 2 sees a group of old-timey vehicles partying while surrounded by lemons. Bizarre, right? It’s even more bizarre when you realise it’s a reference to Lemon Party, the 00s shock website featuring an image of three elderly men having sex. There’s also a scene in the first film where Lightning McQueen quite literally gets flashed by two of his groupies, and there are visible signs for motor strip clubs. These motors really need to cool their engines.
Ratatouille (2007)
Yes, Remy the rat is naked throughout Ratatouille – but that’s not the only nudity going on in this 2007 film. One scene shows a man painting a curvaceous portrait of a naked woman, while surrounded by similarly nude pictures. They’re tasteful though, honest.
The Rescuers (1977)
One of the most well-known bits of Disney naughtiness came when The Rescuers went and featured a pair of boobs in a window in the background of one of its scenes. Of course, Disney later recalled the naked woman from the scene and it was gone by the time the film was released on video in 1999, but it was burned in a generation’s memories.
All of these films are available to stream on Disney Plus.
